Pulau TengahPart of the three "Babi" islands located just off the Johor coastline, Pulau Tengah, as the name implies (Middle Island) is the center one. To its northwest is Pulau Hujong (End Island) and to Tengah's southeast is the biggest of the three, Pulau Besar (Big Island). The reason the islands are known as the Babi islands is because they were once populated by wild boars. These days, however, the "Babi" part is left out of their names, so as to reflect the boars' absence. That's not to say there isn't any wildlife at all in this neck of the woods. In fact, for one thing, Pulau Tengah is a designated a marine park on account of its teeming wildlife. Pulau Tengah is home to an abundance of marine flora and fauna, including reef sharks, otters and dugongs. Even sea turtles make an appearance on the island every so often, laying their eggs at night on Pulau Tengah's strip of beach. Then there's the countless bird species and Pulau Tengah's flourishing botanical ecology. Given all this, it's safe to say that Pulau Tengah's nature is thriving. Pulau Tengah's thriving nature is undoubtedly courtesy of the owner of Pulau Tengah, whose resort, Batu Batu, was realized with Pulau Tengah's environment in mind. As the resort took shape, great care was taken to ensure its footprint would be minimal. Pulau Tengah's Batu Batu Resort offers a Treasure Island's untouched scenery and will surely give you that unique sensation of being marooned from the world. Except on Pulau Tengah you're marooned in a simply sublime villa, whilst showered with 5-star service. Getting to Pulau Tengah If you'd like to pay Pulau Tengah a visit, take either a bus or a private vehicle to the seaside town of Mersing. Mersing is the jumping board to most of Malaysia's eastern seaboard islands. ![]() As most buses go to Mersing just once daily, we recommend securing your bus tickets before the bus is fully booked. NOTE: Peak season is March and July - August Do you prefer going to Mersing and Pulau Tengah by private vehicle? Click here to see the pricing. |
